Dr Chan started the endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle biopsy service in Parkway Hospitals. He also started the extracorporeal life support service in the medical intensive care unit at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He has practised medicine for more the 25 years. He completed his advanced specialty training in respiratory medicine at SGH in 2002 and a clinical fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Toronto, Canada in 2005. He has also undergone a fellowship at the world-renowned Thoraxklinik at Heidelberg, Germany under Prof Felix Herth, where he further honed his skills and knowledge in bronchoscopic procedures such as endobronchial ultrasound and bronchial thermoplasty for asthma. In 2012, he was the scientific chair for the World Congress on Tobacco and Health. Dr Michelle Kam is a pulmonologist at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. During her fellowship, she also received training in sarcoidosis and granulomatous lung disease, orphan and cystic lung disease (e.g. lymphangioleiomyomatosis, Birt-Hogg Dube Syndrome, pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis), childhood interstitial lung disease and pulmonary genetics. Prior to entering private practice, Dr Kam served as the associate director of a hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia treatment centre and established a cystic lung disease clinic. She was involved in multidisciplinary care for immunotherapy-related toxicities and participated in combined respiratory and rheumatology clinics. She currently serves as the deputy head of the Interstitial Lung Disease Assembly at the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology. Dr Kam has received various awards, including the Class of 1975 Book Prize, SingHealth Best House Officer Award, and Service with a Heart Award. More recently, she received the inaugural Singapore Thoracic Society Young Investigator’s Award in 2022, as well as the 2025 ATS-APSR Travel Award. She is well-published in international peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker and faculty member at local, regional and international conferences.

He is accredited in emergency medicine, respiratory medicine and intensive care medicine. In the field of clinical research, Dr Chew has published in several international journals such as CHEST, Journal of Resuscitation, European Journal of Emergency Medicine and American Journal of Emergency Medicine, and has been involved in several local and regional clinical trials. He is also an invited reviewer for the Journal of Respirology, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and Singapore Medical Journal.
